Around and about Pittenweem

Pittenweem is in the East Neuk, a part of the Kingdom of Fife in Scotland known for its picturesque and historic coastal villages and fishing industry and it still retains some fishing boat activity from its harbour.

The village of Pittenweem has its own places of interest such as Kellie Lodge, St.Fillan's Cave and the harbour but here are just a few more things to do in the area ...

At the beginning of August each year it hosts the nationally-recognised Pittenweem Arts Festival and there are many artists resident in the village and nearby. The well-known Peat Inn restaurant is just 20 minutes away by car.

Pittenweem is just a few miles from the famous university town of St.Andrews - also known as "the home of golf" - so it makes a very convenient place to stay if golf is your interest or the University or St Andrews' famous long, sandy beaches are what you're after.

Not far away is the National Trust for Scotland's Kellie Castle and just along the coast are Elie, St.Monans and Crail with Anstruther and the Scottish Fisheries Museum under two miles away.

The Fife Coastal Path runs through Pittenweem along to other East Neuk villages - see an illustrated blog about a coastal walk here. For nature lovers, the Isle of May National Nature Reserve lies just off the coast and Tentsmuir Forest is about 20 miles away.

The cities of Edinburgh, Dundee and Perth are convenient car day-trips from Pittenweem.
